Wyśmienita kompilacja „Hungarian Noir” poświęcona utworowi „Gloomy Sunday”.
Utwór napisał węgierski pianista i kompozytor Reszo Seress w 1933 roku,
załamany po rozstaniu z partnerką. Pierwotnie utwór został odrzucony przez
lokalnego wydawcę jako zbyt rozpaczliwy i melancholijny. Wkrótce oryginalny
tekst zastąpiono słowami Laszlo Javora, poety i reportera działu
kryminalnego lokalnej gazety. W roku 1941 Billie Holiday zinterpretowała
utwór w wersji jaka znana jest obecnie. Swoje wersje tego utworu mają w
swoim repertuarze też tacy artyści jak Björk, Ray Charles, Marianne
Faithfull, Serge Gainsbourg, Diamanda Galas. Na składance szczególną uwagę
zwraca wyborna interpretacja Kayah, z polskim tekstem, zatytułowana „Czarna
Niedziela”. Nie zabrakło na niej też najsłynniejszej wersji Billie Holiday,
oraz wykonań artystów z najróżniejszych zakątków świata.
